Placenta Encapsulation: $250

Placenta encapsulation, or placentophagy, is the process of preparing a mother’s placenta by dehydrating and powdering. The powder is placed into capsules, allowing the mother to ingest as she sees fit. By ingesting the encapsulated placenta, after her labor and birth, the mother reintroduces beneficial nutrients, hormones, and proteins to her body. This is believed to restore a balance to the body, resulting in less frequent instances of “baby blues” and the more serious postpartum depression, as well as promoting a shorter healing time, increased maternal energy levels, and an overall feeling of wellness.

If you decide to encapsulate your placenta, Kendelle or Jenny will pick up your placenta from your place of birth within 24 hours; often on the day of birth. Your placenta is then rinsed, dehydrated and ground into a powder before being encapsulated. You have the choice of method between RAW or TCM (steamed). Along with your capsules, you will receive placenta prints, an umbilical cord keepsake, and a placenta tincture. You also have the choice of saving some of your placenta for smoothie cubes or adding on a healing salve made with oils infused with healing herbs as well as some of your dehydrated placenta.

Our placenta encapsulation specialists are OSHA certified in blood-borne pathogens and take great care and precaution when handling and working with your placenta. Your placenta is prepared using only sterilized equipment.

Though based on a combination of centuries-old cultural knowledge and multiple research studies, the statements and information found on this website have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. Placenta encapsulation is defined as the service of preparing a client’s own placenta for consumption or medicinal use, not the sale of placentas or placenta products. None of the services offered are approved to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease, because (according to the FDA) only a drug can legally make such a claim. Use of placenta encapsulation or other services assumes prior discussion with your health care provider; clients are responsible for researching and using these services appropriately.
